PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT IS THE KEY TO HAPPINESS AND SUCCESS.
Let’s talk personal development today. Have you ever sat quietly and questioned why some people in the world live so happily while others are always sad and desperate? Or do you ever wonder why some people are way much successful than many others around them? Well, maybe the world is an unfair place…..oooor…..maybe you just haven’t found out why????
According to best-selling author, Robert Kyosaki, happiness doesn’t come from having a successful business, having all the money in the world or living the most luxurious life with a fleet of cars, pretty kids and a big beach house. Neither does happiness come from a successful marriage or a successful career.
I personally used to think the happiest people are those who are in love but no! I was wrong! Robert gives a whole new definition of happiness. Read on.
I’m a big lover of books and Robert Kyosaki happens to be my favorite author. Here is the reason why; Robert will give away infinitely valuable knowledge for free. He shares his life experiences and the paths that led him to becoming one of the most successful American businessmen.
If you ever take your time to read any of Robert’s books or simply visit his website (www.richdad.com) your life will never be the same again.
The first book I ever read by Robert was “Rich Dad Poor Dad,” which woke up the business gene that had been sleeping inside me. He is yet sharing another awesome book with incredibly valuable life-changing content.
Without further ado, I’m going to go direct into the 6 morning rituals shared by Robert in his book “Change Your Life Before Breakfast.” .
So, according to Robert, the greatest source of happiness and fulfillment is focusing on your own personal development. He suggests that you make a habit of doing these 6 things first thing in the morning in order to kick-start a new day with positive energy
The best thing to do after waking up is to take the first 5-10 minutes meditating. This is the moment you just shut out the whole world and every other thought about the world and focus on the inner you.
Don’t stretch your hand for that phone to check on the things that happened while you were asleep. Neither should you turn on the TV/radio nor even speak to anyone. Just keep calm and silent, letting your brain recover from the world, clear your mind and let it go into a state of ‘comma’
Make a habit of meditating to relieve yourself stress, depression and anxiety.
“Stilling your mind can help relax and lower your blood pressure, help you find focus and give you energy. It centers you before the chaos of the rest of your day arrives.”
- PRONOUNCE YOUR SPECIFIC GOALS
Think About the goals you want to achieve and say them out loud. Verbal affirmation helps program your brain in such a way that your actions will naturally lead you to work towards that specific goal.
I call this the power of words.
If you make a habit of actually saying out your goals every morning, you may achieve them sooner than you expected.
For instance: If you want to loose 5kg within the next 2 months, write it down in your workout diary and pronounce it 5 times every morning. Words have power!
After making verbal affirmations, visualize yourself into that position you’re wishing for. Visualize yourself in that perfectly shaped body with no belly fat and perfectly toned muscles.
Visualize yourself in that big office doing your dream job and living the perfect life you wish for.
But wait! You don’t just visualize yourself in that position already, first visualize yourself taking the necessary steps required to reach where you want to be.
“Let’s say you want to get in shape.
You don’t just visualize yourself sitting on the beach in your swimsuit. Instead, visualize yourself packing your gym bag and making it to the gym every day with a positive attitude. Picture yourself using the machines at the gym and growing stronger.
Visualize yourself going to the grocery store, selecting fresh produce and lean meats, and then returning home and turning those ingredients into a delicious meal that leaves you satisfied.”
Not everyone enjoys working out early in the morning. There are morning people and there are evening people.
Either way, even if you’re not a morning person, slight morning exercises are still necessary to wake that body up, boost your blood flow, boost your body’s oxygen uptake and get enough energy to kick off the day.
Charge up your body with a 10-minute body stretch, push ups, slight jog up and down the stairs, or a 10-minute plank session.
“Life really is a balance of health, wealth and happiness, and without keeping your health in the mix, the other areas of your life will suffer. And there’s an immediate benefit to exercising in the morning: Getting the oxygen and blood flowing and releasing endorphins positively affects the quality of the rest of your day.”
Such short morning workouts help to fully awaken your body, mind as well as your spirit before you leap into the day’s hustle.
- READ A BOOK
See there are days when I wake up early in the morning, stretch out my hand for my phone and then there is this automatic force that pushes me nowhere else but to the Facebook app so I can check on overnight and early morning updates but this doesn’t always end up so well.
Sometimes the first post I see is a political hate speech, another corruption scandal, an innocent teenager was shot by the police, or the price of basic commodities skyrocketed again overnight. Then what follows? I get out of bed with a stomach full of bile. I’m angry at the world around me already and I start my day with a pack of negative energy! What are the odds that I’m gonna be an unproductive chap for the better part of the day?
So Robert says the best kind of information to feed yourself early in the morning is one which helps develop your skills, mindset and wisdom. Start the day by feeding your mind with positive knowledge that empowers your mind and contributes to your personal development.
“You know the saying, “Garbage in, garbage out”? You could also say, “Negative in, negative out.” Whatever you’re feeding your mind will become what you send back into the world.”
By spending 10-20 minutes of your morning reading at least one chapter of an inspirational book, you get to set your mind for a productive day ahead.
6. WRITE IT DOWN
Every successful person in any field of life will tell you they always put their dreams down on paper. This is not by default.
I have also realized that the things I have literally written down have come to accomplishment more than the ones I have merely wished in my mind or recited by mouth.
Apart from visualizing and verbal affirmation, there is much more power in words that are written down. They appear more real and achieving them becomes easier.
“Putting your intentions for the day into writing, writing down what you focused on in the affirmations and visualizations, propels you into action. It allows you to prioritize your actions and almost acts like a contract with yourself.
It’s a way of cementing the thoughts you’ve had in the previous steps.”
Therefore, strive to have a personal journal/diary where you can put down your goals every morning so that you start you day knowing what you actually want to accomplish.
Now you know you can actually make your life better even before or while sipping that cup of coffee and get to start your day with positive energy and a productive attitude by doing these 6 morning rituals.
